Fibre is important for our health as it aids digestion, prevents constipation and supports a healthy microbiome. Dietary fibre also promotes a healthy bowel function and thus contributes to general well-being.
Resistant starch
Resistant starch is a special form of starch that is not digested by the body and therefore passes through the small intestine unchanged. It enters the large intestine where it is broken down (fermented) by the microorganisms that live there.
Resistant starch acts in different ways in the intestine:
- It promotes the growth of good bacteria
- It produces short-chain fatty acids (energy suppliers for the cells of the intestinal mucosa)
- It improves stool consistency

Product information
SYMBIOINTEST® is a food supplement with a combination of resistant starch and biotin.
Resistant starch is one of the soluble dietary fibres and cannot be digested by the human body. As a result, the resistant starch reaches the lower sections of the intestine unchanged and serves as food there for the bacteria of the intestinal flora. The intestinal bacteria can utilise the resistant starch and form lactic acid and short-chain fatty acids such as butyric acid and acetic acid. Butyric acid in particular nourishes the cells of the intestinal mucous membrane.
Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes (e.g. in the intestines).
